After the initial class, I made it my business to study my lesson plan and content with desperate intensity, and made it through the next class with fewer tissues! After a couple of years in pattern-making, I switched to teaching computing to the fashion students, which is where I started my elearning journey.
Since then, I have morphed from teaching students to teaching teachers about elearning and how to develop interesting content. I enjoy integrating technology into the classroom where I can, and find it satisfying to leverage new tech to help teachers in their job. A typical workshop for me involves using a projector in a computing classroom to show teachers how to use an aspect of their LMS. Teachers can then develop their own content while following and asking questions. This has worked very well as a learning environment, combining the 'try' with the 'why' and 'how'. I live in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, famous for our beautiful bay, historic buildings, pastoral past and stunning coastline! I have a distance workshop to facilitate next year, so I am keen to learn more about running a webinar, particularly via zoom.

What an interesting journey you have been on., sounds like you have had a lot of different experiences over the years. Geelong is a lovely part of the world although I have only been there once, I plan to travel through that area on long service leave next year. One question I have to ask, does living in Geelong make you a Cats supporter?

We may have to connect next year as I am starting to teach my first online course (one aspect being via zoom) and it will be very new to me! I would love to bounce ideas off of each other and hear some of your strategies for student engagement. Also, I love the look of your blog!

Hi Karen, I'm VET too! I also was a learning designer for many years but have now moved into educational technologist. The learning design skills are so useful wherever I go though!
