The TPACK framework crystallises what I try to impart to my (teacher) students: first consider what do you need to do, then work out how you will do it (Microsoft Technology Enriched Instruction (TEI), 2014, February 17). Considering each main component of the framework: technology knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and content knowledge has also forced me to assess where my strengths and weaknesses lie (Matthew Koehler, 2013, September 12). Image source: http://tpack.org Reproduced by permission of the publisher, (c) 2012 by tpack.org Thinking about this means I will incorporate the understanding of this framework to my students, all teachers with specialties and teaching experience who want to use technology more in their practice. I will ask them the questions as posed in chapter four of Roblyer and Doering: What do you know about the content, how will you teach it, and what tools will you use? (2014). Assessing my own TPACK, I think my content knowledge and technology knowledge is strong, placing me in the TCK area (Koehler & Mishra, 2009). I would like to increase my pedagogical knowledge, but in my role as a learning designer, I do not teach in a classroom each day, or even each week, but in waves throughout the year as demanded by the professional development, or teacher training schedule. Karen, it is great you have identified your strengths and weaknesses within the TPACK framework. I understand you want to improve your pedagogy; however, as you teach adult learners I think you mean andragogy, which is how adults learn, as opposed to children. As part of my Masters studies I completed the subject 'Leading Learning in ICT', which focused on andragogy. The text (Phillips, 2012) contained a wealth of information about teaching adults. I can highly recommend the subject, and the text.

Hi Karen, thanks for your thoughts on TPACK and sharing where you believe you are placed within the framework. I have similar thoughts myself and believe that I need to increase my pedagogical knowledge to ensure that I can reach the sweet spot within the TPACK framework. Have you any ideas about you will increase this pedagogical knowledge? I would be very interested to hear your thoughts!

I will also be working with teachers on their integration of technology and I will be using the questions you mentioned - What do you know about the content, how will you teach it, and what tools will you use? It seems so simple but the clarity of those questions really make you think about what you are doing. I was also feeling that I am in the TCK area as I do not spend my time in the classroom due to my role.
